I really don't see the problem. It should be the right of a sentient being to make up his/her/it's own decision to do whatever he/she/it pleases so long as it does not interrupt the rights of another sentient.

The "sanctity of marriage" has no meaning to me actually, so I don't see how this disturbs it. Of all the straight marriages I have seen (as in a man marrying a woman) they all failed, every single one. Not much sanctity there.

And to those who say it is unnatural:
1) When You woke up were you in a bed? Was it a spring mattress? If you answered yes, you are unnatural.

2) Did you brush your teeth? I don't remember humans evolving toothbrushes on their hands, so that is unnatural.

3) Did you eat food? That's natural. BUT! Was it processed? Did you kill it or forage for it yourself? No you didn't, that was unnatural.

Point is by talking right now or reading this very post online you are performing an unnatural act. People may take things like this as natural but humans did not evolve this things, humans made them, created and manufactured them. Point is, almost everything in modern society is unnatural, so if you want to say gay marriage is unnatural then don't tell me you live in a modern society.

AsI told the protester on Parliament hill.... who had the nerve to tell me and my bf how "unnatural" gay marriage is before realizing who he was talking to.
There is no ethical or logical reason why two same sex partners can be married legally. I choose to stress the LEGAL part. As on paper as recognized by the government.

That being said at the same time from a RELIGIOUS stand point the church is permitted to do as they like. As that is THEIR right not ours. And as such should be done at the discretion on the PRIEST.

I don't see this matter being resolved anytime in the near future but who knows.

And just for clarification, by "can", you mean "can not", right?

Just thought this would give people a few giggles and because there was a debate already about gay marriage it seems that it would be best to put it here. Very Happy

01. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

07. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

08. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

09. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

I'm not saying otherwise, just making sure no one else got confused. Wink
