It seems that a compromise is the only way this will ever happen. Which strikes me as unfair, but it fits better into the reality of it.

Does the government currently grant things called "marraige licenses?" If marraige is religous, which people have been saying, then the gov. has no business in them. It should grant ONLY civil unions. Marraige should be a religous institution only...

no I dont think it is a matter of religion because there is a law that says you have to have permision or a marriage license to get married. It should acually be a matter of religion instead of being in the govts. choice for I see no point in having to get permission to love someone.

So? What does it matter what you think? Unless you can back up your statements with logical arguments they are nothing more than racist comments. One of my friends is, in fact, homosexual, and she's one of the nicest people I know.

ok as I see it you are all telling him that he is racist because he stated hi oppinion. no he is not racist as far as I can tell, and I know a couple of gay people they are anooying at times but everyone is wierd in one way or another. Gays like other guys lesbians like other girls. Also if you said you didnt want to talk Buhumit then why did you respond to their calls of responce. One more thing if anyone is to flame a gay then who is to say that you are not gay as well? Because you think that he is the greatest @$$ in the world because of his/her beleif how do you even know that he is gay in the first place, or even that he doesnt hate you because you believe that you are a dragon.

Racist is definitely the wrong word to use. A form of bias, sure. Bias shows ignorance or purposeful choice to not fully understand a particular issue. But many people have many seperate opinions, and opinions themselves do not have to be "backed up" by any kind of facts. Opinions are not facts, after all. They are entirely subjective.

I think that either civil unions or absolutely no government involvement in marriage are both the most acceptable options. As it stands now, the government itself is excluding one group based on sexual preference, as married couples get tax benefits and such. If they didn't do that (they do it to encourage marriage, thus ensuring the future generations. But I don't think that's entirely necessary), this would become a non-issue. Let the people and their individual religion and spritual beliefs sort it out, civilly, rather than federally. There are many tolerant subgroups of some religions, as I've heard, that will recognize any union. No state and federal governments muddying up the issue.

You don't have to like it or agree with it, but you do have to tolerate it.

as I said, I was too lazy at the tome to look up the proper spelling and apologize.

i also apologize if I sounded as if I was attacking Blazing, I was not. My posts were only an attempt to change his mind towards people different than him, again, I apologize.
