Cheers to Solid! Applause Now, yes. Gay marriage. I don`t see how two men or women marrying could even remotely upset the balance of society or straight marriage. What, if I marry my mate, my friend`s parents` marriage will be shattered because he`s a he? I say :P to that. There is zero logic or common sense to that. As to religion, fine. If a church refuses the marriage, goody. They have that freedom. But the law saying marriage to the same gender is illegal..wow. That just cuts down how much money would be put into the economy from marital spending. Wedding atire, ceremony, etc... In a recession, that is just like lighting a crop field on fire because a few people don`t like the vegetable, or some such nonsense. It should be legal. Taking away someone`s rights like that is wrong. But humans tend to get upset by change. Go ask your grandparents what they think of Obama. I`m sure a few still hold onto "certain" beliefs and ideals concerning race. It differs by generation, but it`s always the same. Change, and upset people who don`t want their perfect little world to be jostled. People who think anyone who thinks differently than them should go away. It`s sad. But we can`t prevent the world from changing because of a few people who don`t like it. Unless it`s bad change like deciding to eliminate cookies because of large people. That would be something that should be made illegal, destroying the world`s supply of cookies one bakery at a time. Not good.

Ho, please stop. Some people say it is not NATURAL to be gay. In theory, they are right. But it just happens, like with me. I for instance am bisexual.

And also, some people say: "encouraged to be gay." No chance. You don't get gay because you choose to. You cannot say from one instance to the other: "Hey now I'm gay, and now I'm not!". You get gay by experiences, or you get... well not get, but born gay. I for instance I'm born gay (well half gay, because I'm bi XD).

I forget if I've spoken on this topic in the past--it's seventeen pages, so it's definitely possible--but I'd simply like to speak my mind briefly. I'm sure you've all heard this before: "Don't like gay marriages? Don't get one." My civil rights to, if I so decide, marry a member of my own sex do not infringe upon anybody else's rights unless I try to force someone into officiating the ceremony. As things stand, the odds are not high that I will marry a male--not because I don't want to, but because I happen to be involved in a long-term relationship with someone physically female--but I still support it because it's not really about benefiting me. It's about civil rights. Saying that gay marriage violates people's civil rights is like saying that we should force restaurants to stop serving pork because it offends Muslims. I am personally deeply offended when I see someone (or more commonly a pair of someones) wearing a white shirt and tie trying to convert me to whatever stupid branch of illogical theism they were indoctrinated into. But you know what? I think it should be legal. It's their civil right. And it's my civil right to tell them the truth: their God does not exist, their Savior never came to Earth, and there is no Heaven where God will reward them for abstaining from evil homosexuality. If they want to tell me that my wanting to have sexual relations with someone (or multiple someones) of the same sex is a sin, fine. Their civil right. I can't stop them. The law shouldn't stop them. But I don't want them shouting at government to stop me from doing whatever I want in my bedroom.

Very well put Solid! We all need to have a lighter side on a debate like this one!

To me, love is the highest of energies, and is not a one way form. I know this world isn't close to what we see it should be. It's quite far off, and still needs time to understand new and different things. No matter gay, straight, or bisexual, it is Love. No matter how you suger coat it, or who you say it's against, it is true, pure Love.

One day they will be able to get married, it is just a matter of time!

1 Corinthians 5:1

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God"

I am against gay marriage because it is against God.

Of course, there are Christian denominations which are more welcoming of gay members, and there are billions of people who are not Christian, so why should they have to submit to other religions' laws?

Praise God! Also, and I don't care what anyone says, if you're gay, you do not contribute society in any way. And no, you're not born into it. I'll admit, people that are gay are usually turned gay by circumstance. It's not usually a conscious choice made. Usually, gay or bi people have a history of being abused, both verbally, and sexually. Now it's not love. It's looking for a way to cope with the shit in life you've been given (sorry bout the language.) And the people aren't disgusting, it's what the people DO that's disgusting. And I love how Gays try to say that Christians hate them. No, the Judgmental Christians like Catholics, or Lutherans say are verbally abusive to the gays. Real Christians love gays, they just hate the immorality of what the gays are doing. I know people that used to be gay, but then they found God, turned down their old partner and ended up getting married and having children.

So Yeah. In short. Gays need to find God (So do bis) and get saved.

It always amuses me when people start using the bible as their reason to not be for gay marriage. For one thing, which version/translation of the bible is the right one? I can't exactly quote scripture, but I've read numerous other posts that point out that the bible says a number of things are acceptable that we find distasteful today (i.e. slavery). In that case, what makes the Corinthians passage so acceptable, while other passages from the same manuscript not acceptable?
