Uhhhhhhhhh... Yeah. I just got on today for the first time in a while, and I found all of these posts. I don't know who got on my account, but I'm changing my password. Sorry about all of these posts. I don't know who did it, but I'm sure it was one of my friends pulling a bad joke. Again, sorry guys, and I did not make those posts. I'm not that dumb. _________________ Draconis!!! Humans, dragons, a relationship between both if you are a dracomancer. |

Yeah, again, sorry about that. One of my friends was over, and I guess he knew my password. Oh well. _________________ Draconis!!! Humans, dragons, a relationship between both if you are a dracomancer. |

Ouchers. Well, do make sure you pass on some of the not-amused comments to his post comments and debate style. Especially his debate style. One of the first things I learned when arguing is that if you ever resort to insults, profanity, or yelling, you're already lost (except if you're on Fox News apparently).
We may just be words on a screen, but there are people behind the words. Also, since words are the only thing we have to express ourselves on here, they can haunt you a bit if posted in your name, even if you're not the one who posted it. Just concider it a lesson learned to guard your password and to not trust it with anyone or write it down where someone can find it. _________________ "People who are easily offended need to be offended more often."

I didn't give it to him, he guessed it somehow. So I changed my password, and he told me it was just a joke directed at me. However, I must agree with you there. If you call someone names you've lost the argument. _________________ Draconis!!! Humans, dragons, a relationship between both if you are a dracomancer. |

Not necessarily, that's just as bad a logical jump as calling someone names in the first place. I can call someone a putrid lump who's wasting their life, but as long as that isn't part and parcel of my argument it's irrelevant to whether it's true or not. My logic could be could even if I use insults. But if I pretend insults ARE the argument? Then, I agree, the debate is gone.
For example: your friend is a stupid, monotheistic lump of hate butter that has no idea what is and is not an appropriate joke, and what is a joke directed at you and what's directed at unaware individuals who will get agitated by his ridiculously bigoted idiocy. Case in point, you're more apologetic than angry or laughing, meaning his joke was made of fail, and I'm still pissed that such logically ludicrous statements are a relatively accurate example of what piles of compost calling themselves Christians like Fred Phelps honestly believe will convince people that law-abiding citizens deserve to burn in Hell forever because of an attraction to the opposite sex.
See? My argument, the logic itself, is still a good one. Cleaned up, sans insults, it would look like this: Your friend clearly is mistaken about what is and is not appropriate in public, and trespassed your privacy for a "joke" in poor taste which was likely funny only to him. None of us are laughing, and none of us--including you--are particularly happy about what he said, maybe because it is so difficult to parody conservative Christians: his "arguments", meant as jokes, were practically identical to those used in a serious conversation among conservatives, and are expected by the same people to convince others of their opinion.
But that paragraph's less fun. X3 _________________ Happy Fourth of July everybody! The funniest thing about this signature is that I wrote it on the fourth of July, 2010, and it's probably going to be here for several months. |

I don't agree with the way he put everything, but, and this is the last post I will make so as to bring the thread back on topic, I still think gay marriage is wrong. I don't have an argument to it other than it's just my opinion. There. _________________ Draconis!!! Humans, dragons, a relationship between both if you are a dracomancer. |

So don't get one. Seriously, it's not hurting anyone; it's fine if you don't like gay marriages, that's a matter of your opinion, and--defaulting to the most likely reason, correct me if I'm wrong--it's a matter of your religion. But if someone wants to get married to another man and they don't happen to believe in your god--or they don't think he'll think it's a big deal--then I don't see why you'd be opposed to them getting married. Gay marriage is about as wrong as blasphemy, which is to say it ought to be as illegal under the state as blasphemy. Thanks to a wonderful thing we have called freedom of religion, us atheists and pagans and all other non-believers in the Abrahamic God are allowed to live without being criminals. Thank God. XD Gay marriage, even if it is morally wrong, is a "crime" with no human victims other than the perpetrators; human law systems should reflect that, and not restrict it. People are allowed to cut themselves if they really want. What they aren't allowed to do is commit suicide--I think you should be able to, but hey, not a debate for this topic--apparently because of the extreme distress it will effect among friends and family. Gay marriage, meanwhile, shouldn't cause any more distress than being an atheist, which is perfectly legal. It harms no more people than does being an atheist. It is wrong in exactly the same way as is being an atheist (religion says it is). And one of them is okay but the other is being fought tooth and nail by monotheists the nation over.
I reiterate my point: Don't like gay marriage? Don't get one. _________________ Happy Fourth of July everybody! The funniest thing about this signature is that I wrote it on the fourth of July, 2010, and it's probably going to be here for several months. |
