Having your own avatar.

I. Where can I get an avatar (an image next to your name on the forums)?

1. You can check out the avatars here on this site.
   
   Go to "Profile" while being logged in and scroll down to the avatar section, go to the gallery and the dragon avatars will show up or switch to the general gallery to see other avatars, pick one and add it to your profile and click on submit. You can see the dragon avatars in the museum too.
   
   
2. You could check out the dragon avatars sites in the portals on this website.
   
   If you find an avatar you like outside on one of the other sites, right click on it and save it to your own disk. after that, upload it to your own host (your own space on the web). Please take care not to infringe any copyright (find out if you are allowed to use the avatar).
   
   
3. You could do a google search for avatars.
   
   
4. You could create your own image

II. What must I do to show my avatar here on these forums?

1. If you want to use an avatar from the gallery, just click on submit and it will show up each time you post.
   
2. If you use an avatar you have found somewhere else of if you intend to use you own image, you will need a host to host the image for you so you can link to it’s url through your profile. Do not link to an image on an other site directly if you do not have permission to do so, it would be theft of bandwidth (you would be stealing the others webmaster’s webspace and he or she has to pay for the space you are using). Instead, create your own space to upload your avatar and link to the url of your own space.
   
3. Only .jpg or .jpeg of .gif files are allowed, a bmp image will not show up (you will a broken image instead……..)
   

III. Where can I find a free host for my avatar and how does it work?

1. You could join a free photocentre like Photobucket and use your avatar here by linking to the url of the image (thtough your Profile here).

IV. Avatars in general (repeating the forumrules now)

1. Registrated users can use an avatar from the gallery or link to one legally hosted by another server. Theft of bandwidth will lead to a warning.
   
   
2. The avatar has to be no larger than 90 pixels square (90x90 px), may contain no animaion, and may not exceed 12kb (12000 bytes) filesize.
   
   
3. Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts (respect, etc).
   
   
4. It is not allowed to mimick or copy one of Silver Dragon Breath's images by an avatar, nor is it allowed to mimick or copy an Administrator's or Moderators' avatar.
   
   
5. Registrated users abusing the avatar rules will be warned and/or may lose their avatar privileges.
