I went to see the movie on the first night it came out and there were about twenty protesters on the sidewalk. Some even tried to convert me from my strong agnostic beliefs.
What they don't get is that it's just a movie. It's someone's writings. Just because JRR Tolkein wrote the Lord of the Rings and an epic film was made DOESN'T mean there are orcs running amuck up and around our coastlines.
In my opinion, I think that devoted Christions and the Church should be more angry about Angels & Demons, another novel written by the brilliant Dan Brown. In Angels and Demons, the pope was a murderer... an evil source, if you will. In the DaVinci Code, Dan Brown is only stating his views on religion, and last time I looked, freedom of speech is perfectly acceptable. In turn, the church made Narnia (the movie), based on the book of CS Lewis, a religious upheaval, and you didn't see atheists marching the doors of Century Theatres
What I'm just trying to say, is that people need to accept one another AND what they believe, not doing so will result in war (political, personal, religious, etc). _________________ .:. Nasroniala .:. |

The pope wasn't a murdere in Angels and Demons. He was murdered, by the camerlango(spelling?). _________________ Everything's Possible, the impossible just takes longer. |

Dragonfang is right. And that would not be more controversial because that is a fictiional situation. IN the da vinci code there are (depending on who you are...) no proofs to discredit or credit the theory. And thats what gets people freaked out. That what they have practiced for so long is a lie. _________________ Audaces Fortuna Iuvat.... |

That would be terrible if that were true... Though, it doesn't really aply to me, exept for the fact that not many people practice my religion. Which is polytheism...
But that's another story... _________________ Everything's Possible, the impossible just takes longer. |

WHat do you mean you practice polytheism? To be polytheistic is to worship more than one god and that could be many different things. So what kind are you? _________________ Audaces Fortuna Iuvat.... |

On topic, guys.
the religious school that's right next to my high school has a sign that currently says: "The DaVinci Code is a Lie- Find out why"
Obviously. It's a work of fiction. The church, however, has realized that the vast majority of Americans are easily misled and might very well believe some of the conspiracies in the book/move.
I have a strong desire to hang another sign under the one I mentioned that reads: "So is Harry Potter." It's the same type of lunacy. _________________ The Lichen grows slowly, atop of a rock.

I agree...
Some people (both american and canadian) tend to be over fanatical (if that can even be said) about works of fiction and those people need to learn to lighten up and just enjoy a good piece of writting. _________________ Everything's Possible, the impossible just takes longer. |
