Alright, let's all jump off the Empire State Building and have a bungee cord that tapers quite thin in one point. It's going to snap, and we'll fall to our deaths if we do it wrong. I'm just saying that it would not have evolved that way, because it would simply thin out the species to extinction or until the ones left didn't practice it.

Personally, I'd rather lose a mate or die for one than die with one.

Dragons are depicted evilly in European myth because they preyed upon humans. So of course there's some environmental bias on the issue. That said, it should be pointed out that humans don't exactly have the most appealing reputation in the eyes of the rest of the animal kingdom... Doubt

Anne McCaffrey made a good thesis in her books, in which gill-like flaps in the male dragons back opened to release (well you get the idea) to fertilize the female dragon. All this happened while in flight.

Well, there goes my giant sedan theory...aside from jokes, i find it hard to believe they did in-flight or in free-fall (as Ragnarok explains) the bast chance is that they did in their cave or dwellings, as most animals do.

Idea

Though correct in the theory that dragons mate in the air, that is explained well in Discovery Channels "Dragon's: A Fantasy Made Real" movie episode. Though I have also read across various books that the mating flight is just part of a longer more complex ritual which involves the male's song of his deeds and adventures to a suitable female he was trying to impress, it has also been theorized that the new formed couple would mate for life, the mother teaching the new hatchlings, primarily the females as the father would hunt and teach the male hatchlings of adventures and fighting.

Strange considering that I didn't mate in-flight, and I was about as birdlike as possible just short of being an actual bird. Dragons sure are weird...

v..v I was very close in one of my dreams, the result of it though I must say, has had a great impact on my life in deciding if I should marry or remain single for the one that came to me in my dream. I will never forget the feeling of scales across my hand when I touched her. It seems I am to be forever heartbroken for she more than enough won my heart.

Sad
