Hmmmn... is the Galadreil being pronounced gah-LAH-dray-il or gah-lah-DRAYL or somewhere inbetween? *loves languages*

Monarth is also the name of the bronze dragon ridden by T'gellan in the Dragonriders of Pern series.

I must say I feel slightly jealous. You talk as if saying your name for the first time was something of a transformational experience... The first time I said MY name, all I got was a nasty headache and a snarling tangent on how I "fouled it up by saying it wrong" simply because my tongue isn't forked. ^^;

It was trasformational experience. I can't forget the feeling how magical it was to discover myself.

I forgot to mention my middle name. Just about a month or two after my first name was found, another name came to my mouth: "Gandor". I felt another connection, but this time it was more darker, more evil... I couldn't find any kind of sign what this beast looked like. Until one day I decided to build somekind of beast from legos (Yea, I'm happy to build with them Green ) and well, it somehow got the form of this evil beast inside me, and more realistic image of this beast snapped to my mind. I'm not still exactly sure what it looks like because this beast hides itself from me now, but I know that Gandor is my dark side, the place where my rage, anger and hate come.

I've been reading about you and your name for a while, goldendragon, and what amuses me is people saying it's the name that is borne by the Elven Queen in LotR. They're wrong. Either they're wrong or you're consistently misspelling it. Your name, as you say it, is "Galadreil" with the e before the i. The character they are thinking of is named Galadriel; it is written similarly in the English language, certainly, but it is a world away in pronunciation. It's amazing how much the simple reversal of some letters can change the way you say something.

So that would explain why it showed up as mispelled on the google search when I looked it up. But the way I am spelling it is the best way I can from the way it is pronounced. The "Gala" portion is pronounced as it looks but the "dreil" part is pronounced like the word "veil" as in the mesh thing brides use for weddings. So put together the best way I could spell it is Galadreil.

Might consider changing the spelling to more closely reflect the correct way to pronounce it. If it sounds like Galaveil, it's probably best to write it that way too. For example, my own username is a shortening/easier pronunciation of 'shiaourrii"

Woops. What I meant was for the vouls to be pronounced like the word "veil". the D and the R just like the word "drake". So I guess it would be pronounced "Galadr" and then "veil" without the "v". My fault there d'oh! .

When I was younger, I believed that I was an ancient dragon who was banished to humanity as punishment. I believed that I was one of three siblings that represented balance in "our world," and that we had a mentor named Enezar. I don't have a clue as to where I got that name, but it came first. Next came Nasroniala, which struck me as a fitting name for myself (or my dragon-ish self...), though I feel more at ease with "Nas." I them crated names for my "brother and sister," or the other two dragons. One I called Draemcasia and te other, Boreno. Honestly, i've done a lot of growing up since then. I still respect my wild imagination, but I don't honestly believe in any of the rubbish I used to. Now Nas is just an incarnation, or the form of my soul... not a real, breathing entity.

So yeah... Nas is just the name that seemed fitting.

So where is the stress on the word then? first second or third syllable?

GA-lah-drayl, gah-LAH-drayl, or gah-lah-DRAYL?

I would guess its the third syllable but you're supposed to roll the d and the r off the tip of your tongue but all three seem to be pronounced correctly in a way. I don't know hardly anything about how to type how a word is supposed to be pronounced so I apologize for my incompetence there.
