And now you seem to be saying that some of them are good. Consistency, please? _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

| (bit off but... at first my parents said video games would rot my brains now they're telling me not to play games too much because of the intensive use of my brain! xD, but seriously, I think (<- think) that it doesnt rot your brains. I know someone who plays games more than is healthy for him but yet hes an intelligent programmer. |

At first I was told that playing video games would rot my brain. Right now, I am studying to be able to make games for a living. There's more to video games than just mindless fun. The military uses them for combat simulation and training, doctors use them to practice surgery without risk to a patient, employers use them to train new employees, teachers use them to educate students, etc. The game and simulation market is exploding, because the current generation has been raised with the Internet and video games. Since video games are growing in importance to many teens and kids, it is in our best interests to use games to educate as well as entertain. After all, would you rather kids be sitting and watching TV all day, or playing a game that helps them with their math and science? Sure, there are plenty of people who play games too much. Video game addiction is now an official disorder with treatment programs. However, there are plenty of overlooked benefits to games that ought to be exploited in the coming years. Hopefully I get to do some of that. _________________ DeviantArt Page.

I personaly think it differs for each person. I use to be smart, started playing games to much, and there went my IQ. *laughs*
Military training games? Ha, they suck. Trust me on that one. During basic they give recruits, sometimes mind you, a nintendo with a range simulation game.
Does nothing to help when you actually get a rifle in your hands. Gives you and idea what you need to do, but it does not help. _________________ "24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not."

In my say of this, video games do not rot your brain, nor does it make you less intelligent unless you already are not of normal intellegance. Video games give you better understanding of the real world, and let you escape from the stress and ties of the real world. They also give you better hand-eye cordination, some help with acedemics and I could go on forever, but the simple fact is video games are not bad for you, although they can hurt you eyes after a while, that is proven, but still.
I mean I play Halo all day every day and although I'm only a Sergeant Grade 3, soon to go to Gunnery Sergeant, I'm not stupid nor has my brain begun to rot, my eyes are fine, it's just what you do with teh stuff you've learned. _________________ The evidence so far outways the reasoning prooving beyond a reasonable doubt that everything you've been told and seen is true and real. | I love playing video games, and I do not think they rot brains. Some teachers say I am one of the best students they have ever had so it can't be that bad. I think that they do have some positive effects because I heard that the nintendo wii helps cure strokes |

to answer the issue of video games promoting violence, it's true.
shooter games such as DOOM, tom clancy series, etc, can lower inhibition from shooting people. to shooter fans, real life people is just like a virtual figure as sitting ducks for many infamous school shootings like the harris & klebold incident. they even admitted in notes and occaisional school assignments on essays or tales that involved blood and death straight from DOOM they played. feel free to correct me.
EDIT:
oh by the way due to long time playing on stragety games, i apparently beat everyone else in my class in chess and whenever im playing mmorpgs, they actually do me good (im so quick with my hand and my eyes i could catch a fly in the air with my bare hands! counting:11 times)
despite it wearing my eyes down (im getting glasses soon )
i play video games 12 hours every day.... in the weekend. my parents wont let me play during the week. keeps me on my schoolwork

Do you have any evidence to back up your claims? |
