What do you think of this book i have so many opinions from my self but i like to hear what others think of it.
The book was written by DJ Conway and what about her other books, are they reliable or are they really bad?
I cannot quite grasp the book by dancing with dragons so opinions are welcome here.
Please and thankyou _________________ forever shall i be a dragon friend even though i have not met one. forever let the dragons live free |

If you look back, there's a thread in this board already on it: http://www.ncsos.us/sdb/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3811
I have this book, too. My personal opinion is: it's not worth the money I put out for it. Yes, it's interesting, what with the correspondences and bit of mythology and all, but it's pretty much a Wicca 101 book that has the word 'dragon' thrown in. DJ Conway stereotypes dragons way too much, what with the assigning of elements and colours, like "red dragons are fire dragons", "blue dragons are water dragons", you know? I also don't agree with the idea of 'elemental rulers'. They may work for her, but using Fafnir as the fire elemental ruler gets my hackles up; In mythology, Fafnir was a dwarf who killed his father for some cursed gold he had, and turned into a dragon out of greed to protect the gold for himself, then was later slain by Sigurd. That doesn't sound like a dragon you'd want to work with, does it? Anywho... Oh, and don't get me started on the dragon script: there's no reason why dragons would respond to that script any more than any other script. There is no "One Dragon Script", so the idea of this just makes me roll my eyes (which I did when I found out my mate uses this script for his secret stuff e.e). The idea of Planetary and Zodiac dragons seems rather silly to me, too.
I do have to admit, though, there isn't much out there on working with dragons magickally (aside from Parker J. Torrence's "Sea, Land, and Sky: A Dragon Magick Grimoire"). Conway's books- any of them- are good examples of fluff, though. It'd probably be better to learn about magick in general, as well as study dragon mythology.
Just my two cents. |

| I almost picked up the book my self but really thought the same things that Salaiek thought - an interesting read if there ever was one but the take on dragons, or rather how dragons were injected into this book, left little to be admired. |

i have shamefully brought the book from barnes and noble book store and i am very dissappointed in it. what a shame she brought upon herself. so does anyone here know any books that are good to read about dragons in general and to contact them? _________________ forever shall i be a dragon friend even though i have not met one. forever let the dragons live free |
