But Binky, I can understand how a Wombat can comfort the men.
But how would a Wombat tire the horses? Is it biting in their legs? Or jumping in between the horses? Or distracting them by telling funny tales?

a riddle i see upon the sea, come and figure this one out and see if you can beat me.
i stand tall for all to see
i can be colored every way to be,
i help man read and form words,
but i cannot help them unless they can read.
for me i have a hat and one leg,
i form one of the simplest to make,
for a pen or pencil or a computer could make me,
one must be literate to make me.
come and see if you can beat me, come and become smarter with me.
see if you can solve this riddle for ye for knowledge will come to thee.

Yes, it could be any of those! Also, wombat burrows (holes) can be dangerous for horses, so it could be tiring for horses to have to avoid the holes.

i come in different sizes,
i may be decorated or just plain,
i could be used as fashion,
or i could be used in ritual.
not one person could make me by hand,
for i am way too hot to handle.
people use me as a gift to others - use me as a marriage token,
so solve this riddle if you can.
