I remember a lot of my hoard. It was all quite distinctively worthless! Laughing It consisted of just about anything I compulsively felt like picking up for no reason and I particularly liked glittery rocks and seashells. I myself of course thought the whole thing was more valuable than my own life, but humans (had they reached my hoard) wouldn’t have found much more valuable than a peach-colored urn about half the size of a man, some empty arcane runestones that I’d drained and hadn’t gotten around to recharging yet, and the odd occasional gold piece.
But of course humans never reached my hoard, and no one knew about what a disappointing find it would have been. As a result, desperate bandits who saw a 25-30 ft. dragon automatically thought “$$$$$!” and you can probably guess the rest of it. Darwinism at its best… Twisted All other food I had to go out and get myself, and I had to pick my paths carefully to remain camouflaged; no other prey would have been clueless enough to run TOWARDS me if I was spotted. o.O I'll assume this is jest since I don't even have access to it anymore. It's on the other side of the world and I haven't been back there for over 900 years. During my dragon life brigands came over and practically jumped into my open mouth because they only THOUGHT I had a prestigious pile of wealth, but I only cared about how lustrous and glittery it all was. Wink My urge to gather it all must have been some sort of bird instinct.
Actually in my current life I enjoy collecting glittery rocks, especially white quartzes lying around. That was one of my highlights during recess at elementary school. I don't think it was a dragon thing though--Master hadn't started whispering to me yet and most other kids picked up random stuff from the ground too because we were all curious and naive about the difference between mica and silver. I have a slate garden outside my house and quartz is always turning up. Especially pink ones, they're sooooooo pretty. My hoard contains interesting stones, gemstones, old coins and generally interesting bits and pieces.

Hoarding... I dont know. Possesive?
Oh hells yes.

Do I now have a compulsion to leave work and check that my home is secure?

You bet.

Doesn't matter if its gold, or some old bones mouldering in a corner, its MINE and no-one had better touch it.
