English was by far the easiest class I had really, I was into writing stories a long time before I got english class and I wrote everything english despite not being english by heritage.
I managed to give the teacher a 26 page written story about the adventures of a girl named Maria Golten, and managed to get the rest of the semester off because of that (from english atleast) XD _________________ Avatar by Vanodalv. Wooh |

Maybe RAM considers it a personal duty to warn the rest of the world of the horrors of one English teacher in particular. Did she shoot disintegrating eye-lasers like mine did or maybe force you to read Thomas Hardy? *shudders* _________________ The statement below this one is false.

Well. I give it a 50% Like and dislike.
During last semester when I was 10th grade/9th grade.. It's pretty fun.. but since. I'm 12 grade now. The english class becomes diffuclt. I got a 90 or less score on english class. cuz I'm doing past tenses _________________ I have a DS

Nothing like digging up old fossils, is there?
After the holidays are over I'm taking a third shot at a rather nightmarish English class. The first time I took it, I failed, and the second time I dropped out with a D- and WOULD have failed if I hadn't dropped, so if I don't pass this time, I'll likely bang my head on a wall until my brains spill out. >_<
The problem that happened last time was I couldn't pick a topic. The assignment said to just pick any topic whatsoever, so naturally, I screwed it all up. There's supposed to be several papers written: an informative essay on the topic, an argumentative essay on the topic, an excrutiatingly long research paper, and something else that I don't remember. I DID decide to write on the marriage-thing this time, and am now trying to get in contact with the professor early so that I can get a head start.
The only real problem remaining is that the System keeps yelling at me that I'm "Doing It Wrong". I was sorta under the impression that I had full awareness of what exactly the System wanted where:
INFORMATIVE: be a non-existent disembodied voice speaking in perfect neutrality.
ARGUMENTATIVE: be myself.
RESEARCH: pretend to be a complete ignoramus on the topic from the start, and look for info on the subject. Don't let anything opinionated get in until evidence shows up first.
Please correct any of these if you think there's a better approach, but for crying out loud don't just tell me that I'm wrong without telling me what's right. That's all I ever got from professors and even Mom told me that I "couldn't write formally" but didn't go into more detail. What the heck is she babbling to herself about?? Again, I'll never know because she won't tell me outright!
The worst part is that I know what the System's reasons are for all this. It's to "see if I'm enough of a good writer". I resent having to jump through all these stupid hoops. And maybe the System is correct about its judgement; maybe the way this is all set up really IS beneficial to the most people. But if that's the case I just wish it weren't so difficult for me, and that someone in authority could just go online and see my writing for themselves. _________________ The statement below this one is false.

Ah, English class. Always one of my favorite classes despite my generally low scores, in all my classes. I never did like the way they piled work on in elementary school, but in the two and a half years of high school I took it was MUCH better. Well... rather, the first one was much like elementary school but I was at least recognised as being capable of writing far better than anyone else (I was given the diagnostic English test and vocabulary test at the start of my freshman year, I had a 12+ grade level vocabulary, meaning if you threw me into a college class I'd understand the words getting thrown around, and it's only gone up from then). Second year I got stuck into the English class for either Juniors or Seniors, I think (I was recognised as being able to write well ). So that's when I got my start with poetry, and realised I'm actually quite good at it. Then I had to switch schools and the other semester of that year I spent mostly building up my vocabulary in another class, which I actually found rather entertaining because most of the stuff I either knew or could figure out. I did get to read books, though, that was cool. And, through the bit of this year that I took (sorta-graduated after Thanksgiving), I was just having a fun time being contrary to everybody else's opinion on the quote and journal write. What do people do when confronted with someone who will consider friends to be possessions and laugh at the idea that altruism is a good thing? Most of them will think you're kidding. :P I like being contrary. After all, I got to be the counterpoint in most arguments. I even agreed with a quote and wrote from the other point of view because I knew everyone else would agree with it. *sighs* Ah, English. Well, I'm going to have a lot of fun in my college English class when I get there. I love English.
Oh, and as for grammar, I have a natural sense for how words ought to be organised. Very helpful, and it means that I understood concepts like single quotation marks waay back in fourth grade. _________________ Happy Fourth of July everybody! I like my English class, ^^ it helps when you have a good teacher too but it's not like you can choose who teaches you, so... But yeah, I've always liked English, and I've always read books. I like to think myself as an advanced reader, or at least compared to others of my age. I never liked going into the kids section in book stores, so, I uh didn't. ^^' The only problem with that is sometimes you end up reading something and you realize there's a reason it was in the adult section... heh.
As for writing, I only really got into it when I found the rp section on this site. I was quite a slow learner but I've pretty much got the hang of it now. I'm not amazing at it and I definitely need to extend my vocabulary, but I'm getting there, and because it's something I love doing, it makes me even more determined to get better.
So yeah, I like English. =P

I LOVE english... Before eleventh grade I had never gotten below an A on an essay. I can easily attribute my comfort with the english language to my reading habits when I was younger. When I was six I read the Hobbit. When I was nine I read the Lord of the Rings, Madeline L'Engle, and some Austen. Once I breeched the age of fifteen, however, I began to hate the literature we were assigned to read, and began to put off reading... quite sad, really. Ah well... at any rate, I find that writing and reading come quite naturally to me. *shrugs* _________________ .:. Nasroniala .:. |
