| Recently i read the Temerair series, and it provided an very interesting perspective on the dragon stories that have felt rather repetitive most of the time. It is actually set in the Napoleonic wars, and follows the exploits of a navy captain who bonds with a rare dragon captured as an egg from the French. I wont go into any more detail an risk ruining the story, but it is very well written and is an interesting mixture of historical and fantasy writing blended masterfully. |

I love Naomi Noviks work. I read the first book a year ago and got hooked. Just managed to get "empire of ivory" a day or two ago and started reading that.
I thought it was very creative of her to mix history and fantasy like she did. _________________ "24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not."

I just finished Empire of Ivory not too long ago. I can't wait for the next book! Novik's writing style is different from what I'm used to (I once referred to it as "not quite high fantasy, more like upper middle class fantasy"), but it kept my attention the whole way through. I highly recommend them! _________________ DeviantArt Page.

Not that long ago, it was still on the new books shelf when I picked it up. Next book is slated to come out in late 2008. Cannot wait! (I rhymed! I rhymed!) _________________ DeviantArt Page.
