I have recently reawakened a talent of mine for haiku's, and thoroughly enjoy trading them with friends and I thought we could start a friendly competition sharing and working off of them. If it grows big enough, I was thinking we could hold votes for favorites.
Competition starts
poetry and prose is shared
a smile on each face
Begin now my friends
the rhythm is so simple
let us all have fun |

I like the idea, though I have to think of creating a good Haiku myself.

taps so gently on the ground
calming down my fear

um i dont think this haiku (i think, ppl think i have some sort of inferiority complex) will wow, amaze, apall, surpri- anyway, here's the haiku. dont forget your cue to throw tomatoes and pies(no, no pies, can't take me seriously covered in pie) oh well nvm here it is
Soaring high ever free
Amongst the stars in the night,
the joys to behold.
ehh hehehe? is it ok? err i dont think so.

RamenDemon, haiku follow a 5-7-5 syllable pattern. Your first line has, by word, 2-1-2-1 syllables, for a total of 6.
