Do dragons have their own language? I've read many examples of dragon-specific languages... and many examples of English-speaking dragons. Smile (And even (especially?) telepathy, which is really more a communication of feelings and ideas more than actual words...) Is this just something made up by the authors, or would such a language be real, and what would it be called? I've read many different ideas on that, too...

Have any otherkin had experiences with a language perhaps more dragon than human?

Some dragons may have their own language, and others may have none at all. Given that, there is no single "dragon language." Most - if not all - of what you see in books, however, is pure fiction.

As for those with experience with other languages, the only person I can really think of offhand would be Tysha.

I had my own language as a dragon. I can't recall the words (that's what you can call it I guess), but sometimes I hear certain sounds that remind my of my dragon side. I think the languages that dragons spoke (some dragons didn't speak at all I guess), were just as divers as the human languages. I think a dragon from the other side of the planet they lived on wouldn't have been able to communicate with others of it's own kind.
I don't believe in a universal dragon language.

There is no universal dragon language, unless every dragon in the multiverse just happened to all speak the same language, which is highly unlikely. Humans can't even do that on the same planet! (Not setting otherkin apart from other people, mind you. Only making a point.)

And yes, I do have a little experience with dragon languages, because I'm able to remember a few words from my own language. (Note that this is actually my first life on Earth. I once thought I might have also been an Earth dragon in a past life, but it turned out not to be so...although I'd rather not go into more detail as to why I thought that.) Anyway, back to the language aspect. I'll list a few words I can remember the way I now spell them, as well as their pronunciation. However, this is only as accurate as a human tongue can pronounce a language meant for a forked tongue...which is quite poorly, I might add. Also, translating the language into a human language with limited symbols as to represent sounds proves a difficult challenge. It is impossible to produce a pronunciation that is 100% accurate, when the sounds needed are not produced by human languages. But I've done my best to break it down.

g'lahira (g-lah-HEER-ah) is/was a spear-/lance-like weapon used by humans

anashki (ah-NAH-shkee) - used as a reference to humans...not sure on its exact meaning; might be a derogatory term that dragons referred to humans as, but I doubt it, seeing as we didn't partake in name-calling or insulting outside our species. (Inside, it was just like how 2 friends might joke around with each other.)

hanthra (HAHN-thrah) - wing: specifically that of a dragon (wings of other creatures had slightly different...not pronunciations...inflections(?) associated with them to differentiate. By inflections, I mean that there was some sort of limited telepathy between us, allowing us to portray many different things using the same word, because we could "just tell" what the other dragon was referring to.)

Again, I highly doubt that anyone here recognizes this language, unless they happen to be from the same planet as me, and if so...LET ME KNOW!!!

The Illsyndran daekar have their own spoken language but the written language died out long before my hatching. I do have a word list typed up but its limited, since daekar and human merged its not as easy to remember. With my headaches I have trouble remembering English these days! I'm happy to share it with the curious.

I've found when I'm communicating with dragons through meditation, or when the 5 drop in for their random visits, its very much a visual and emotional discussion rather than using words (that's the best way I can think of describing it right now).

llsyndran Language: Usage of the Title "Tol'Sha"

Tol'Sha is the honourary title given to members of the Illsyndran Council. It translates as 'One of Knowledge' which is fitting as the members of the council are there to guide rather than lead.

It is the only title on Illsyndra that has strict guidelines on its usage. It can only be used by the current members of the council, once your time as a member ends you can no longer use it. The penalty for false use is death. There is only one case I know of which involved someone using the title falsely, it was an Ootar trying to impress a visitor to Illsyndra. His own family killed him when they found out about his crime. Despite it happening a few generations ago the memory of the incident lives on. It may seem a bit harsh to non-Illsyndrans but that is how special that title is to us.

The council is currently made up of ten Illsyndrans, four daekar, three Ootar, one Elari, one Tlshe and one Vsen. One member is not currently on Illsyndra so only three daekar sit in on the council meetings. They are chosen by the general population of Illsyndra as guides and problem solvers. Disputes which cannot be settled by the parties involved are taken before the council for their decision. Both parties know that any decision made by the council has to be carried out, so usually minor disputes are settled privately.
