what about burrowing spiders? the females are known to be like 10,20 times bigger than a male and a male is like 5 inches long. plus the female devours the male during mating  _________________ Really, you should know better than steal a bowl of ramen from a Dragon.. *slu-u-u-rp* |

Well, that wouldn't be the only way a community with flightless females would survive. The females could also be living in small groups or alone, hidden in caves in the mountains (where the male's wings are not much of an advantage), while the males freely roam the territory searching for food.
There aren't many dragons around, and the risk of being attacked is rather low. The problem is harsh climate and food.
But I still think that the communal model would be a lot more successful for an intelligent being such as a dragon, because it offers more food, more security, and more opportunity for finding a mate. And also by living in some form of society would force the dragons develop mentally, which can bring huge advantages latter on. |
