Tails are very important for a dragon. Eg:
If there is vapor or water in the air, a tail can act as a temporary compass. Hopeless when not flying.
Tails are very flexible, like a piece of string, so they can whip others with their tails in battle. Sometimes, the tail is more useful then the dragon's breath, bite or claws. Post your beliefs here, only to do with tails and arrow ends. _________________ Really, I'm not sane. I'm actually

Also tail are an important aspect of flying, as the tail is used as a rudder which is very important for making tight turns. _________________ I'm doing maintenance, and I'm still alive~ |

And they can use their tail for balance.
I saw a documentary on Australian and Asian dragons a few days ago on Annimal Planet. There was this small dragon that could run out a much bigger annimal. He ran by using his legs (like a human), bending his body horizontal to the ground while his tail was horizontal too.
If a human could do such a thing, he would ran nearly 300 km per hours, so you can image, the little dragon was fast.
The movements of his legs looked as if he was riding a bicyle, that is why he is called a bicycle dragon. _________________ - power is gained through wisdom - |

That's fast.
I think it was mainly used for balance, and in flight, but could also (rarely) be used to hit stuff. My tail was multi purpose |

| I think it has a whole host of uses. It could be used for balance, a weapon if it has spines on it and even for display as I have a multicololured feathered plume on the end of my characters tail but I wouldn't need to use it I shouldn't think. |

I think the tail is used for balance among other things. It could also be used like a whip, similar to the way Komodo Dragons use their tails in defence. Also, perhaps in close range battles, if the tail has a sharp tip, it could be used with a stabbing motion. _________________ "Teeth rip and claws shred
