What is going on with these gas prices? $3.89 a gallon and just 3 weeks ago it was $2.96 a gallon... what is the gov. excuse for the sudden increase in crude oil? my thought on the matter is because of those stimulas packages and summer coming around the corner... but man... all the money is going to the gas tank instead of the stores needing buisness. it takes me now about $67.99 to fill my trucks tank up and i put in a weight reduction in it so it wouldn't pull so much gas..
i am must flabergasted that the gas company is so stupid with their profits. _________________ forever shall i be a dragon friend even though i have not met one. forever let the dragons live free |

In case you didn't notice, the price per barrel of oil has been rocketing up as well, and that's a major part of the increase.
That aside, compared to most of the rest of the world, US gas is still cheap. Most of Europe, for example has prices around or above $7/gallon, and US gas prices would probably be even higher if all the gas subsidies were removed.

A crashing dollar and rising demand while supplies are constant or down are two reasons. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

4L ~=~ 1gal, so that's about 6£, which, at the 1.95$/£ exchange rate right now works out to be somewhere around $11.70/gal, assuming my math is right.
US prices have a long way to go before they get to that point. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

Gas prices are sky high here, 1L costs as much as 1.60 Euros... (and that's the cheap kind) Despite the fact that the dollar is crashing and the barrels are still sold in good 'ol dollars, the prices are still rising, and I don't think that it'll stop anytime soon...
1 gallon is about 4 liters, so that would mean that 1 gallon costs as much as $9.92 here. |

Everyone from the US to Japan need to try to devolp a new fuel. We've tried solar already and that busted. Now there talking about hyrogen fuel cells. _________________ Rest in Peace, Ronnie James Dio, from Mortal to God, Rest in Peace.(1942-2010) |

Hydrogen is not a fuel. It's a gas used to transfer power from one place to another, in other words, in order to create hydrogen, you have to put energy into it. I disagree with you that solar energy is busted. Using solar panels is a great way to produce electrical power, the only problem is that it's not as efficient as we want it to be. Scientists are continually developing new solar panels, and I expect that this will be used as a future power source.
I admit however that it's possible to fuse two hydrogen atoms to create one helium atom, which will produce insane amounts of power, but it will be a long while before fusion reactors will be built. |

Nods in agreement... I probably should count my blessings considering that gas here is only 4.00 now, still it's ridiculous. I like the idea about the hydrogen-helium fusion, wonder if the gov. is working on that right now... _________________ forever shall i be a dragon friend even though i have not met one. forever let the dragons live free |
