I was thinking that perhaps we tell of great places to go, if ever we are in that area. Just say what state or country, what you think is the best place to grab a bite, location of that place, the name of the place and what it has to offer. Just make sure it is unique to your location. Not something like BK or something. Here is a place to go if ever you are in my territory. I'm form New Jersey and if you like good chili and good old fashon Texas style Hot dogs. I recommend Hot Grill. Located at 669 Lexington Ave.

Let's see...okay, got it.
Zippy's, probably for several visits, as they serve a large number of local foods. I recommend the Loco Moco, Zip Min (their take on a "deluxe" saimin), and the Surf Pac (if you're willing to get something that has spam in it ).
Then, if you're really feeling adventurous, you could go to pretty much any food store (if, as is most likely the case, you are staying in Waikiki, the Foodland at Ala Moana is decent one), and pick up some poke and lomi salmon. Those, however, involve raw fish, and while they are two of my favorite foods, I've noticed that there are a lot of people who tend to shy away from raw fish. :P Then, while at the food store, you can also pick up a bag of poi (for some reason, the forum doesn't like parentheses in urls, so it's the second link on that page).
If the above doesn't really appeal to you, then there're the plate lunch places (personally, I like L&L), where you can get the laulau and kalua combo.
And then last, there's haupia. I'm not going to tell you where to go to get it because it's simple to make, and you can probably just do it yourself. :P
And, just to completely skewer dragonwriterX's point about not listing national chain restaurants because they're all the same: Burger King and McDonalds. They both have spam on their menus, though the Portuguese sausage, egg and rice is also pretty good, and not something you're likely to find in very many places. Then there's the 7-11, which sells spam musubi. :P _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

@Ragnarok: Because of bad time budgeting, my family only had time to rush through Honolulu too fast for me to take anything in.
For my part, what to do if you're in Atlanta? I have no idea. I don't like crowded cities and there's too much dependent on driving. >_< _________________ The statement below this one is false.

Well, there's always next time (or not, depending on how crazy prices get). The spam-related things you could probably do at home (if you're willing, anyway ). _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

I don't know how widespread across Australia they are, I think it's just in Queensland, but The Hog's Breath Cafe does brilliant steaks. _________________ It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

Well, in the GENERAL area of Southern California and adjacent states, all I know is that In-N-Out is the best fast food place, period. I recommend you look over their secret menu.
As for in my specific area, there are several sushi places I can recommend. Full Moon Sushi and Steakhouse, Kenri Sushi... for a tiny town filled with Christians and Mexican-Americans (I have to call them that, otherwise my racism becomes something that can get me locked up) we have a lot of sushi places. Three or four. And when I say tiny, I honestly do mean that. As a measure, I could walk along Main Street from end to end in less than a day. I don't know what it is, but people seem to think lots of people like sushi around here. It's just not true.
If you want Mexican food (I can call THAT what it is. :P), there's a very good place near my house called Salsa's. Trust me on this one; you pay what you would for a Taco Bell burrito, and realize "Um... this thing weighs two or three pounds." when you try to eat it. It's awesome. I can't make any recommendations for steak or anything, since... well, I don't eat steak... but if I had to guess I'd say Full Moon again. My brother had steak there, and he said it was really good. Plus you can get sushi with it!
No addresses from me, but if anybody ever finds themselves in Ramona, CA, just drive around for fifteen minutes, you'll probably find them. As for me, I live on the street by the bus lot. :P Look for the house with a 'Vette and ask me if you need directions. Not like I myself can give them to you--no, I'm directionally challenged--but I can tell you who can. _________________ Happy Fourth of July everybody!
