| I heard this one a few years ago and though I have given it lots of thought, asked many people if they knew, etc., I have yet to come up with an answer. =/ |

Here is something to think about the lines to each house can't touch but nowhere in this puzzle does it say the circles and houses cannot over lap _________________ The impossible is only impossible as long as the possible has yet to be proven possible

Actually in the puzzle it says that the utilities are suppose to link directly to each house. The true answer to this puzzle and it is an answer that I have gotten from may people is:
No solution
This puzzle has no answer and there for cannot be solved. It truely is the unsolvable puzzle. _________________ The blood of that which you beleive run deep within, if you feel this then there is no need to doubt. |

Oh really?
If the Heat-----Water-----Electricity can be placed any way it is quite simple.
The last circle electricity is overhead of the houses and the line doesn't go through the houses rather it streams down toward them. Also since it is in the air and not one the ground like the other two they can not possibly connect. As for the other two, water is behind and heat is in front.
-------Water--------| -------- Electricty----
------/--|--\-------- | [air-------/--|--\---air
----h1--h2-h3------| [ground-h1-h2-h3--ground
------/--|----\------| [
-----[ HEAT ]-----| [
However if the water and eletricity have to be like this
House1---house2---house3
Water---electricity---heat
It can still be done. however each one would have to be at a higher height then the other. _________________ To dream the impossible dream. |

Okay let me say this in a 2-D setting it Cannot be done. There will always be one house that is missing something. Now on a 3-D format it is easy as
3x1. The way it is done is
House1---house2---house3
Water---electricity---heat
Like ^ as you said. I've been trying to solve it for two years now it just isn't do able on a 2-d level. Case closed. If you find the answer I will be the first to say I was wrong. Matter of fact I wager that you can't find a 2-d answer. _________________ The blood of that which you beleive run deep within, if you feel this then there is no need to doubt. |

The pipes can't cross right well maybe the answer to the 2-D puzzle is that the Electricity is not in a pipe it is in a wire therefore it can cross or go around the pipes while the twoo others which are in pipes can not. This would make the puzzle possible. _________________ To dream the impossible dream. |
