As you have all noticed the economy is getting worse, and worse.
People are saying that this will lead to another Great Depression.
And it will be a global Great Depression. Seeing as how many foreign countries rely on america for most of there profits. As you may or may not
know most of the buildings, as well schools here in America. Are owned by other countries, and with CEO'S and the CFO'S. Bailing out of businesses, and taking what ever money they get their greedy hands on leaving the employees with worthless stock. Leaving every one of them, with out a job, or money. Being that money goes in, then it goes out.
Pretty soon we're going to run out of money. There for we wont be able to pay for things that we need like. Water, and electricity. Then it will be right back to the 1900's. Which means, that the internet will go down. There for
this site as well as many others. Will go down because nobody can afford to
pay for electicity. So we got a problem that is getting worse, and worse.
My question is. What can we do to either stop it or slow it down?
Because we are getting no where fast. I am just getting abit worried about that. I could care less about many things but I love coming to this site,
as well any thing that is dragon related. _________________ The blood of that which you beleive run deep within, if you feel this then there is no need to doubt. |

Honestly, I'm not even sure how to begin parsing that post, what with the random spacing and periods...
Anyway, there's a reason why there are economists paid to keep track of all this stuff. The financial world is so complicated that it's pretty hard to tell what's causing what.
The crisis we're in, however, seems to have two factors at its base: the now-deflating housing bubble and the number of bad mortgages that were put out due to that bubble. Because the former collapsed, the latter is cracking and crumbling as well. The bill that Congress just passed authorizes the spending of $700,000,000,000 in order to save the banks that had lent these mortgages, but a common criticism of that policy is that it only deals with the current problem of banks running out of liquid assets, and not the underlying problems of housing price deflation and the number of mortgages that have yet to go bust.
As for the Great Depression, I doubt that we'll see something THAT bad. A recession seems all but inevitable, though we're not technically in one yet (two consecutive quarters of negative growth, and we haven't had even one), but the signs are that it won't be anywhere near that bad.
As for money, I don't see "running out" to be a problem. Even during a recession, the country doesn't "run out" of money. Things might get tight for individuals, and individual people might have to cut back on energy usage or internet connections or whatever, but it wouldn't even come close to taking the entire internet down. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

I'd worried about that too for a split second then realized that if that happened the whole world would come to an end. Regardless of what happens, we're screwed in some form or other and cruel as this sounds, we kinda had it coming. You can't wage a war and lower taxes at the same time and I'm not sure WHAT possessed us to think we could get away with it. _________________ The statement below this one is false.

I don't know everything about the current economic situation, but one thing that really bothers me about times like these is the fact that the negative attitude spreads quickly and essentially contributes to the economic slump. People hear about the economy on the news - things like recession and crisis - and they start trying to liquidate their assets and pull out all their money. It's that kind of attitude that essentially creates any downfall that might occur. If people continued buying and consuming and supporting companies with funds, I don't think the economy would slump so much. Yes, we might still have the inflation and the gas prices and some of the other things people complain about that are a little more out of our control, but I think it is the fear itself that creates the real problems.
I'm not including all the facts or trying to analyze the situation completely; the only point I'm trying to make is that sometimes economic crises are almost like someone yelling "fire" and everyone running for their lives. _________________ Rawr.

We, Americans, never really got out of our Recession since the 9/11 attacks. I know shortly after that extreme hoax that I lost my job at my local Dominoes. There's far more to this economic situation than meets the eye. This is one of the major parts of the New World Order. Everything about it is falling into place at an accelerated rate which is pretty scary if you ask me. Y'all should really know that once our Government has bought up the $700 billion in bad morgatages, and toxic stuff within the Housing Market, it will NOT give any of it back, nor allow any of it to be bought from the Itself. Once it's bought up, it's gone forever. If you've been keeping up with current events, you'll see the light... which is pretty scary stuff once this stuff is in the light. This is all the work of the Builderburg Group, which quite possibly have even more Shadowery Figures in the background manipulating the scenes. Regardless of what happens, it'll be of no help to any of us, only those in Power.
It was first the Credit Market that collapsed here in the States. It used to be on the news till the Government silenced the media. The Key Markets of the U.S. are being destroyed in the shadows or at least becoming seriously destablized to a point of a gust of wind could collapse them.
Now about a Global Depression... this is the really sad piece of information, and a sign of what's to really to come in the future for us all. The Great Depression 2 should hit the U.S., and the U.S. alone. It'd affect any counties that import and export to the U.S. varyingly according to how dependant they are on the U.S.'s trading. Entirely due to the Builderburg Group's actions, there are three great regions of the Earth that are as one economically now. Soon it will be without borders entirely to form the One World Government. All of the countries in Asia and Europe have all of their countries together as one economic power. Africa was the first one to be transformed into this economic power. Now it's the U.S., Canada, and Mexico's turn. It was made official back in like 2006 or 2007 that the U.S.'s at least so far, Economy is now a part of the World Economy. The World Economy used to encompass many different countries around the world. Now it only resides with four great regions of the Earth. So as our Great country is quickly and silently destroyed, at it's weakest, we'll become one with the One World Government.
Now about gas prices. I hope all of y'all do realize who makes the prices of the gas prices. It's not the gas station owners, nor the U.S. Government. It's purely and will always be the oil companies themselves. Why are the gas prices going down slightly to quite alot depending on your geographical location? It's merely a trick, a petty one at that, by the Oil Companies to make people here in the States happier for a bit before they jack up the prices should their wallets and pockets get noticably thinner. Why do y'all think after a Hurricane or Tropical Storm in the Gulf of Mexico drives up the gas prices a few pennies to well over a dollar more than previous? It's not because of the Oil Platforms get destroyed or damaged. There's many of them out there. A few damaged or or destroyed wouldn't damage the production of crude oil. The Oil Companies WILL use any and all weather anomlies in the Gulf of Mexico and anywhere else in the Atlantic, quite possibly elsewhere they have their Platforms. This is THE reason why gas prices seriously fluxuate during Hurricane Season. Should there be any other powerful storms in the Gulf of Mexico and anywhere else they have their Platforms, they'll jack up the prices so fast and as high as they can without looking like they're gouging people.
Oh yeah, get this. Electric Cars are almost illegalized in the U.S. Don't believe me? Find out about the truth behind General Motor's Electric Car, the EV's. Oil Companies have so much sway in our daily lives... it's sad. I've heard recently that GM's to come out with another Electric Car, but I have little hope for it. As much as I'd much perfer it over a petrolum based fuel propelled machine, I have little hope of ever getting my paws on one. I could always import one or more from another planet, if I could get off of this rock.
Sorry about the really long post, but I hope that this really helps to explain what's really going on in the world, especially in our dying nation, the United States of America. Have fun and take care. |

Okay, yeah, I got it. You're a conspiracy theorist.

Yes we did. The recession began before 9/11, and the economy stopped shrinking that quarter, and we haven't been in a recession since then.

As much as I dislike the bill that was passed, there were some provisions in place to try to get the government its money back.

I don't know what sort of media you're keeping track of, but it's still there.

So far, it's mostly just the credit markets, and most of the damage is self-inflicted. Nothing in this problem requires a conspiracy - short of an almost universal drive to make as much profit as possible.

Have you been looking at the worldwide stock markets? They're taking just as much of a hit as ours.

How do you get from three interconnected trading areas and one government?

That's what trade does.

No it's not, and to say such a thing would require a great deal of ignorance about how oil is handled and priced. The oil prices are dictated first by the oil producing countries (they're the sellers, so it makes perfect economic sense that they'd sell it for whatever the market will bear), then speculation on future prices (possible one of the major causes of the recent price spike, and why prices are inching downward again). That crude oil is then bought by refiners who add on their own bit so they can make a profit, then the government (federal and state) add fuel taxes, and then the final seller adds their own bit so they can profit.
So in a simpler form, gas prices are: (Base price)*(speculation modifier)+(refiner's profit margin)+(distributor's profit margin)+(federal government tax)+(state government tax)+(gas station owner profit margin). The only thing that the oil producing countries can set is the base price, and even that is affected at least as much by speculation as it is by just normal supply and demand.

Not even close. Try looking up what's coming in the near future, as well as something other than the conspiracy sites for the EV-1. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

*makes a really stupid face* Quit being unpatriotic and start panicking before the terrorists get you. Soon the world will break apart spontaneously into fragments and the one we're on will sail into Jupiter and we'll all be crushed to death by the gas because there aren't any fossil fuels left and only panic and mayhem will save us all!

You think all the people in the world will drop what they're doing and join hands in harmony with one another? That really WOULD be something to freak out over, I'll give you that much...

Gas prices are up because nobody has any oil left. If the supply is in doubt, the demand is irrelevant, end of story.
