the best way is to not be in a rush.

It took me 5 years to figure out a name and how I looked.

I took me years to just get a basic understanding of who I am, and I still don't know a lot. The only thing I do know is that I was / am a dragon. Everything else is just speculation, or felt most natural.

My best advice would be, like Shiari said, to give it time. Don't rush it.

You could start to meditate, try to figure out exactly who you are, but it takes time. Sometimes even years.

Gradually and unwillingly. It all started with my feeling something talking to me from inside of me, then it was a long and complicated process of figuring out that I was being haunted by a ghost, and after that finding out who and what that ghost really was. As the pieces all came together gradually, I grew more and more alarmed by the conclusion that was appearing, trying my hardest to reject draconity because it LOOKED crazy (and is in many ways). But I believe in it now nonetheless. Wink

I always compare trying to recall my dragon self with trying to create a self portrait of yourself without a mirror, using your foot to draw with, while having severe amnesia.

Yeah...

I only took the name Obsidian because I can at least pronounce it.

Really, humans dont have enough vowel sounds. Or scents. And sudden bites are considered RUDE for some reason.

Take your time, meditating helps, but dont stress about it. Sometimes you will just go 'Oh...' and something will come back. Other times nothing. Something you likely will NEVER recall, until this life ends as well.

I'm just the same. This is my third year of meditation and getting results out of the blue and haven't found a clear image exept this one time that it almost looked like a movie. It looked black that shimmered bluish green in light. But it was dark and rainy in the image so I'm not sure.

I found out my true identity through writing. I began writing a story about a dragon hatching just outside Cardiff, Wales and it was when I began writing it in 1st person that I realised I was writing about me, as a dragon. It was startling to say the least, but then I realised that it felt right, that it was real.
Though that was two years ago now, I still don't know my true name, but I am sure that it will come to me eventually.
Most of my memories as a human are 3rd person (i.e. I'm looking at it from some other viewpoint), but sometimes I have 1st person memories when I'm certainly not human, and these ones feel the most real.
I also find it difficult to sit down for long periods of time, my coccyx (tail-bone, at the base of the spine) and shoulders hurt too much when I do.

I know what I am now, and I embrace that. My advice to others in discovering the same: just think about whether it makes sense or not, look back into your memories and yourself. Truth will out they say, it's true. You can't hide what you really are from yourself.

Let's see... it's been about eleven years since my first memory of thought, during which I speculated that I was not human. At the time I thought I was PHYSICALLY non-human, but I did grow out of that. Now I just think I've been genetically manipulated by the government. It's been eight years since I found someone else who genuinely believed they were inhuman. Again, we didn't quite know what we were... I sort of made it up on the spot. :P And it's been about four years now since I found this website and thought I was a dragon. I grew out of that too, and two or so years ago I tried to think I was fully human through and through. Didn't work for long, and I returned to the idea that I was something and didn't know what. I assumed several identities--fox, black jaguar, dragon again, elf--but I eventually arrived at the form that I now think is just about right. Hasn't got a name that I can think of, but if you cross a human, a tank, a dragon, and a crocodile, it's sort of like that. Minus the guns. I'd go into a detailed description of it but I ALWAYS do that when I mention it and there must be three or four on this board already. Anyway, I've had my Name (Shomti) since when I was... uh, around eleven, I think. Maybe younger. I just didn't know it was mine at the time. I figured out it was, in fact, mine several years later, sometime during (not at the beginning of) my time that I thought I was a dragon.

My point in ranting about myself and how long it took me to find out what little I know now? It takes bloody forever. And I started EARLY, when I was four or five.
