^I will never understand how a certain species could be condemmed for its existance. If that were the case then the dragon race must have been taking something from the church, we will most likely never know what, but perhaps they were either trying to overthrow it to give us true the freedom that they had or something else that I cannot fathom at the moment. Again though that would mean every single body was accounted for and disposed of which I do not think is possible unless the dragon race back then numbered only less than the hundreds across the globe and were easily found.

I'd say that rather than the dragons burning their dead, but that it was the Catholic Church. Everyone knows that virtually every single dragonslayer from the middle ages was doing it in God's name... The church would not want any evidence left of them after they were dead, so they destroyed all the remains. Simple.

So, what about every dragon and precursor species that would have had to have existed before the Middle Ages?

And how about those that died of natural causes far away from humanity? The woods were vast and unexplored places back then, as were the mountains.

Do you know what species you're dealing with here? They kill each other in the name of a God that loves everybody and tells them to love their enemy. These people can't be understood rationally, but if they can condemn part of their own race to death just because of some superficial characteristic like religion or appearance, I find it very easy to believe how they could consider an entire species vile and necessary to remove from the face of the earth. The only problem is that they would have if they could have, but there were no dragons. Remember, they think (I'd say thought, but people still believe this stuff!) that as soon as they came into existence the world was given to them by God to do with as they pleased. You need a real superiority complex to think that, which means that I'm the only one who should be thinking it! *rolls eyes* No, you're not supposed to understand these people.

so.... you can't be rationally understood either hmmn?

Not all humanity is christian. Not all humanity believes that we can abuse the planet at will.

YOU are human too. Never forget that. If you forget it, you become exactly like that which you dislike about them.

I don't forget it, and no, I cannot be rationally understood. People in general--life in general--cannot be rationally understood. Anyway, I was just ranting because people make me mad when they think the world is for them. Partially because half of me says "That's MINE! You can't have it!" and partially because the other half says "That's for everything living! You can't have it!"

As for "Not all humanity is Christian" I never said it was. I absolutely never did. And not all humanity thinks the world belongs to them. Some Christians don't, some do. But lots do, and that was my point. People still believe it. It's ridiculous. How can they rationalise something like that to themselves? "We're better than everything else"? That's exactly what they say, too; so ridiculous. I will never understand the core workings of humans, myself and everyone on this board included.

On another note, we seem to have drifted off-topic. Would you like to continue arguing in PMs, or to start a topic in the Debate board? I'd love to argue my point in one of those mediums, but I have this nagging feeling that this thread should be taken back for its reclaimed purpose of speculation upon the real reason that dragons collect riches.

Ah, your initial wording about how humans are born thinking God gave them the planet made it sound like no human is anything but monotheistic. :P

that's what I get for early morning stressed posting.

Ah, no, no, no. I meant that they thought as soon as the human race itself came into existence, God delivered the world to them to use as they would. *shrugs* I don't see why he would give it to them in particular, if he even exists. But again, off-topic.

I think they collected riches because they, like humans, enjoyed shiny things. :P
