Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had any tips on falling asleep.
I ask you this because my insomnia comes and goes, but it has come back with a vengeance.
I know the traditional methods like warm milk and reading and mediation, but those don’t seem to work.
Any thing would be greatly appreciated!
(please hurry, I miss my dreams of flying high in the sky… ) _________________ you better watch it,

My insomnia was always caused by my brain refusing to slow down and shut up, so your mile may vary as to usefulness.
I play music. Never anything with lyrics (except for enya), and always with a sedate, steady melody, nothing sudden or jarring. And because these are songs I know well.... I "think" the song. I refuse to have any word-thoughts, and they're not difficult to prevent when you're trying to think in song. Eventually, my brain gets relaxed enough that I drift off to sleep. |

There's 2 things which work on me:
1. Cold water. Anything warm just keeps me awake most likely.
2. 3 deep breaths. I usually get a yawn after doing that and fall asleep not so long after that.
Also, sometimes what keeps me awake is something that bothers my mind. That's why it's good to settle that thing up in your mind, so you don't have to think about it.
Hopefully this helps. Sweet dreams _________________ Why do we avoid the rain? It feels different on our skin, it feels cold, but still, it's part of our nature, part of us and yet, it creates life... We don't have to avoid it... |

I have sleep problems as well, always had. I have trouble falling asleep and once I'm actually asleep, it's very hard to wake me. I can literally sleep most of the day.
That aside, like you already suggested warm milk helps sometimes, although I like warm milk with honey. Like Shiari, I think music can help a lot too, I usually listen to something atmospheric, or I listen to Enya.
What also works for me sometimes is just focusing on my breathing, try to clear your mind of anything but your breathing. It can be hard at the beginning, but it usually works after a couple of minutes. |

Well, like stated before by Shiair and Namhias, I usually listen to music. A very soft, soothing melody should do the trick. Then again... I can fall asleep to almost any type of music.
Drinking certain kinds of tea also helps me, like chamomile for example. It can have effects to make you drozzy, depending on what kind of tea and how your body works. (I personally prefer green tea for flavor...) Not only can it help you sleep it also has health benifits... YAY! XD
Some smells could work too, such as lavender.
But what I personally prefer for sleeping, is getting bundled in a bunch of blankets and laying comfortably. Listening to soft rock music also helps along with the dark surroundings. Clearing the mind also seems to help.
Try yawning a few times while putting some of these tricks into action, as Monarth had suggested earlier.
Good luck and have sweet dreams. _________________ Blessings |

Well if you're not a minor a drink befor bet helps, just don't make it a routine and don't overdo it but it does help on occasion. Another suggestion is reading. I don't know what happened a couple years ago but I started to enjoy readin and when I do it before bed I usually fall asleep right after. _________________ I am trapped between heaven and hell. Erm... I don't really think consuming alcohol is such a good idea... legal or not. It really screws with your system and can make things worse. Plus doesn't it make you awake... until you drink enough to pass out? I highly DO NOT suggest anything that involves alcohol or drugs to help you sleep... unless you get prescription medicine from your doctor if the situation is to become that sever. _________________ Blessings |
