When I was younger I could hear the whine of electrical appliances and even silent alarms so loudly I couldn't enter some buildings. My mother is the same way.
Neither my mother nor I are telepathic. My mom is not otherkin.
What you are describing is actually a perfectly normal and perfectly human happening. |

Yeah, I think most people can hear TV's and such. It's nothing special.
Also, in complete silence, I hear a soft string of sound as well, though it's not bothersome. I think it's just the sound of silence, really... no matter how much of an oxymoron that is XD _________________ .:. Nasroniala .:. |

Hmm, I didn't consider high pitched sounds...
Almost every electrical device makes sound, it's possible to hear that sometimes, I know because I can hear it too usually.. |

It's called the 'sound of silence' and is caused by the human brain trying to find noise where there is none. It is a perfectly normal thing ALL humans have, and nothing to be alarmed over.
Occasional, random pop-eeeeeee sounds can be a sign of ear injury, or illness, consult your physician.
While most humans do have a somewhat limited hearing range, a few, myself included are able to pick up bat-pips and dog whistles. Defective neon lights and CRT monitors cause me a great deal of pain.
But that has nothing to do with draconity, or otherkin-ness. Some people just have a broader hearing range. _________________ Prey, tell... |

I guess I'm just one of those lucky people who gets to cringe at some of those noises. Just today at work we have the ag show and there were at least a couple hundred people upstairs getting drunk, all blabbering at once and it was loud enough to me to have to cover my ears and get back in the elevator. I was overwhelmed . _________________ I am trapped between heaven and hell. My wings carry me upon the winds. Above lies heaven, below hell. Yet I must land in hell to soar in heaven. It's extremely common and in all ways normal. I have it, my mom has it, my dad does, all my friends from school... it's normal.
When you grow up around a lot of constant noise, especially subtle electronic noises, it does something about the range of frequencies you can hear. So 99.9999% of the time you have a constant subtle 'white noise' that's a combination of every mechanical and electrical thing within earshot and the moment all of that is gone (like when the power goes out or something) your ears are left ringing (which they do all the time anyway, you just don't notice it until the background noise stops drowning it out).
Here's a quick test http://theoatmeal.com/quizzes/sound/ if you can hear that sound, you're either still 16 years old or you're so used to hearing high frequency sounds that you never 'outgrow' them. It also means you have REALLY awesome hearing
Yeah, it's a pain (literally) but, oh well, you have freaking awesome hearing and actually pay attention to things. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo, lol. Just live with it. Millions of people do. _________________ "Humans are so interesting. Do you know, in a universe full of wonders, they've managed to invent boredom?" - Death |
