*shrugs* I know many people that are bisexual or homosexual... it makes no difference to me. Happiness is happiness, no matter who brings it to you, and no social norm or expectation should stand in its way.

And we can agree to disagree on the subject of souls. Its a bit too abstract for a well founded debate, at any rate Wink

I really wish more people thought of things this way. It made me really happy to hear this from you. No one should ever have to feel ashamed of loving another - ever - for love is such a beautiful thing.

This place was the first place I ever felt like I could open up and truly be myself. I hope that each and every member here can come to feel that way if they haven't already.

Being myself makes me happy. A piece of information that I usually don't disclose is that the syllables of my name mean freedom, truth, and love. In the past year, the friends I have made and the relationship that I have grown to cherish have made me feel like it's okay to be true to myself, that I can be free in this world (even if it's tough sometimes), and that I can feel loved even though most humans would find me to be just about the weirdest person they've ever met.

The most important thing is to be oneself - I believe that everything else falls into place after that.

I don't think many use the term "soulmates" in the way you described, Hyraxylos.

I don't think very many who actually feel the tone of the word use it for any spiritual definition, ironically. I stumbled across this when looking through a New Age site that someone on YouTube had linked me to for laughs (they're 2012ers so consider the source I suppose Confused ), and I also read someplace else that it was in some ancient Greek mythology.

You mean the theory put forth by Aristophanes in Plato's Symposium. I've read that one a few times over the years. Wiki has a part of it here: Article on Soulmates

I thought that was an interesting, albeit rather creepy and unrealistic, way to think about soul mates. X3 Freaky mental images...
I personally don't put much stock in the idea myself, due partially to the fact that people have put many different meanings and emphases on it. If someone were to ask me if I've found my soulmate, I'd have to answer yes, but I wouldn't give it more than that. If you subscribe to the idea that everything is One on a spiritual level, then what would set souls apart into pairs or groupings if they're all supposedly the same?

Mind you, I'm not a supporter of that idea. c.c Someone I know is, and it makes any sensible debate for individuality difficult at best. Old prick.
I, personally, find myself thinking on the idea of different energy vibrations; people on the same vibration will be drawn to each other, perhaps becoming good friends, considered family, or even 'soulmates'.
What would differentiate soulmates from anyone on the same vibration... I'm not sure. Maybe they are the same, and only differ by conscious choice or particular attraction that isn't based on souls.

Just my two cents/ramblings.
