Through the various websites I've viewed, and the books I've read, all dragons seem to have one thing in common: They are all reptile-like creatures, almost all with sharp, pointed teeth, and nearly all with tails.
As for me, my preferred view on dragons is the classic Western/Arthurian style: Large, lizard-like body, head resembling a horse's, and wings like a bat's. _________________ A wise man once said, "I think, therefore I am," but how can he be so sure of his existence through his own skepticism? |

There are no such things as 'dragons'. Thats an arbitary term used to cover a massive group that, frankly, isnt even a group. Its like throwing a sheet over a jungle and calling everything you find under said sheet a sheet-critter.
For me, 'dragon' is a useful word to get accross a general meaning without needing to go into deeper discussion of habitat, habits, territory, and evolutionary adaptations. I say 'Dragon' and people generally get what I mean.
And to be fair - the generally accepted description of a western dragon does *FIT* what I remember having once been VERY well. But to ask what I think of as a dragon... well, thats tought, because /nothing/ I remember says I *WAS* a dragon. Just something that superficially resembles what western culture defines a dragon to be.
Oh, you want visuals I guess... Well, my roleplay characters are almost the same visually as I was, so: http://fc15.deviantart.com/fs37/f/2008/263/9/b/Obsidian_commission_by_ahkahna.jpg
This is as close to what I looked like as anything. It's based on the little I recall about my own appearance, and that of several others I knew. (Family/siblings/clan-packmates/whatever).
There are of course several things not QUITE accurate in the image of course - My Roleplay characters are NOT exactly the same as I was after all, nor should they be. And the artist was working from my amaturish drawings and rambling text description... etc etc. _________________ Prey, tell... |

I view dragon symbolicly.
They, to me, are a sources of power in body, they were in legend either fiercsome beast battling knights and other dragons, are stealing a young maiden (Something which eh...'perks' my interests ) , are in now a day fables a guardian to protect the weaker.
Power mind as well, I remember a lot of stories about dragons on islands using riddles to gaurd there hordes. Then again in now a day fable being wise and menevolent.
I dunno if I have even believe them real though I've always favored the western over the eastern. _________________ Rest in Peace, Ronnie James Dio, from Mortal to God, Rest in Peace.(1942-2010) |

| I see them as being creatures with 4 legs and paws, scales, wings (as you would), tails with something on the end like a blade, horns, spikes down back (only on males though). |

Well, what I think of dragons looks is that they're scaled, 4 legged, horned, tailed and winged. Their necks could be short or long and pointing forward or going up. Tails could have spikes or something else at the tail tip and there can be spikes or a crest going along the spine. Shoulders could also possibly have spikes or something, same goes to wing top, where the 'fingers' split to hold the membrain, jaw and snout.
I think dragons are intelligent as it comes to knowing about the nature. And wisdom is what I think they have. I think they can talk, with animals also, somehow. I think they have many elements they breathe, not only fire, acid and ice. I think they breath the element by magic.
I don't know how this have been in my mind, but I think dragons have also their elemental guardians who live in elemental temples. They're like elders who teach their elemental powers and in the end get replaced by someone else when they die.
I believe there's also serpent dragons who live in ocean and don't have wings and legs. _________________ Why do we avoid the rain? It feels different on our skin, it feels cold, but still, it's part of our nature, part of us and yet, it creates life... We don't have to avoid it... |
