Today, or technically last night as it is 1am now. I was cleaning the floors at work for this sports show that we're hosting. One of the booths was of a taxidermist and he had a lot of displays out. At first I thought it was pretty neat but when it got late and I had to clean up, my mind has changed a lot.
As someof you may already know from my thread in the spirituality section, I believe that I can pick up some, I gues spirits would be the most accurate term.
Well one of the animals on display was a pretty decent sized black bear and I was getting a very strong feel of dread and anger every time I looked at it. I tried not to pay it any attention but when I turned my back at one point my vision blacked out for a split second and I could see the bear attacking me. This was only momentary but I know what I saw. I was getting the same feel from the moose and coyote that was on display but nothing ever came from it, just the bear.
I have a feeling that some of these animals find their bodies being stuffed and put on display a desicration and I definitely don't think they're liking it. But most of the others I couldn't feel anything so hopefully they've passed on or are at peace. It was just the bear that attacked me, the moose, and a coyote that I could feel they were angry with how their bodies have been handled.
I always thought taxidermy was cool but beings I now know (or have a general idea) how the animals feel about it, I will never partake in it. Wether it be buying a stuffed animal or when I go out hunting and getting it stuffed. They don't like it and its not fair to deprive them of the rest or their ability to pass on for the pleasure of people to look at their dead bodies on display. _________________ I am trapped between heaven and hell. | I don't like to use the word "hate", but in this instance I feel it is necessary. I hate taxidermy! It is just so....ruthless. I live in a big hunting area, and so many people are just so proud of their trophies. My grandfather has them all over his house....mountain lions, turkeys, hogs, deer, raccoons...everything. I feel like I am walking into a haunted house when I walk into it. I just....can't understand it. I really, truly, hate it. And I can totally sympathize with you for having that feeling about those animals. How would any of you like it if your enemy put YOUR dead body on display for everyone to see? |

I think that if the animal was at least... eaten... that the sense of desecration would be less. One of my friends is going to take me deer hunting next year, not for trophy, but for meat. I'm going to save the hide if I can and have it tanned and use it for crafts. That I have no problem with, and I doubt the animals do either... but very few people eat bears, so that was pure trophy kill which disgusts me.

Yes I agree if you're going to kill something least you can do is show respect for the life you just took. Auroara would never just kill something so she could look at what she killed. She just eats it, to let it know that from it's death life continue. That's why death is in this world and every other.
With out it. It would be truely a living Hell. _________________ The blood of that which you beleive run deep within, if you feel this then there is no need to doubt. |

Taxidermy actually confuses me as well as disgusts me. I don't understand the mindset of showing off something like that. I can easily comprehend having a huge ego, but the "showing off" part sets off a <DOES NOT COMPUTE> in my mind. _________________ The statement below this one is false.
