My youngest brother does that with my little sis quite a bit. That though only has to do with him wanting to be big like his sis. Or at times just to get her mad . _________________ I am trapped between heaven and hell. My wings carry me upon the winds. Above lies heaven, below hell. Yet I must land in hell to soar in heaven. Yes, but is your sibling 18 years old, and regularly borrow them?
{edit: an interesting page I found that pertains to this very subject: http://www.kiltmen.com/world.htm outlining the many forms of skirt and dress like clothing worn around the world...by men. seems there are any places around the world were the men wearing "dresses" or "skirts" is not uncommon.}
But back on subject; Dark said that it's highly likely that the guys I saw strolling about the south side of town were likely the guys he knows from the boff field. truly I do not see the issue or why its worth debating from the consumer reviews I've read of such products the guys who wear them find them to be quite comfortable, frankly though I find many skirts a tad bit too drafty for my likes, but I do have three or four that I truly like and I will wear often.
My attitude towards such things is simple, If you like skirts regardless of your gender and what you call them, go for it. If the thought of wearing such a thing makes you uncomfortable then don't. If you want to man it up by calling them "utility kilts" or "one legged pants" that's fine too. just don't get in a huff when somebody calls it a "skirt". _________________ say hello! at zahz's keep;P |

Well, I'm reviving my own thread, but I had another thought. (Scary, innit?)
Here's a question, what would constitute "masculine" wear these days? Or in other words, is there anything that males would wear normally (so for this, I'm excluding formal wear, e.g. tuxes, since that's not "normal" or "everyday" wear).
There are three generally accepted "genders": masculine, feminine, and neuter. Feminine wear is pretty simple to define/give examples of. Skirts, blouses, dresses, "short" shorts, etc.
Neuter wear would be the sorts of thing that could be worn by either. a few examples of these are regular shorts (i.e. ones that cover more than just the upper thigh), jeans (though there are more feminine cuts and trends, e.g.: capris, tighter fitting jeans, etc, though looser ones are also fairly common), pants/long pants (though, I admit, these might trend a little more on the masculine side), and T-shirts.
But when I think about clothing on the masculine side, i.e. the male equivalent of the skirts and dresses, I draw almost a total blank. There have been trends, like the "extra baggy" pants, or the "layered" shirts (button-up shirt over a T-shirt) that are vaguely popular, but nothing as widespread as the skirts/dresses/etc that exist on the feminine side of the clothing line.

I understand going blank here, it took me some time to think of this: the Polo-Shirt (though I have to admit, sometimes women wear this kind of clothing too). _________________ - power is gained through wisdom - |

I'd lean more toward that being "neuter" as well, though. At my middle/high school, there were two uniform options: a polo shirt and pants, and (female-only, of course) a blouse and skirt. Female students could use either, and a significant portion went with the polo. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

This brings up a vague memory, when I was going through some old Star Trek promotional stuff, which included concept sketches, that the crew on The Next Generation had been planned that both men and women crew members would have worn both skirts and pants, which did strike me as a bit interesting. It appears to have been dropped though, which is a bit disappointing, but understandable considering the more conservative nature of the late 80's and through the early to mid 90's.
I've never really understood (Read: agreed with) the taboos of men and skirts or women and pants. Admittedly, a lot of it is probably good old conservativeness, which finds itself in an increasingly liberal world. I for one like the idea of the utility kilt, which frankly gives a lot more freedom of movement than a pair of jeans or khakis (without the risk of embarrassing seam rippage if you bend too far...) _________________ May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you're dead.

It didn't last past the first season, but it did make it into production. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |
