So begins my inquiry on this peculiar but somewhat interesting subject...
My first question is to those who believe they are otherkin...do you believe you are able to spot others in real life who are otherkin? And if so, do you ever ask them...and if so again, how accurate is your instinct.

I have only one experience where I "may" have found another otherkin. It started as a simple attraction and then what she said later tipped me off. I've finally discussed this with her, and neither of us can be certain if she is or isn't. She's still unsure about the whole idea so I don't press the issue
Besides that, I can't say that I can tell if someone is or isn't otherkin simply by walking by and saying hello. Without having some sort of telepathic abilities, I don't think any other otherkin can tell either.

| No, I don't belief I can spot someone and tell whether or not they're otherkin. However, I can suspect it if I know someone for an extended amount of time. This doesn't happen often, but there are at least two guys who I suspect may be otherkin. It could of course be just me trying to see similarities where they aren't. I have never asked whether or not they believe they are otherkin, they don't even know I am one. I keep it a very close guarded secret. |

Ok, question 2...who can describe the 'moment' when it sunk in for them, and maybe also the mental process from 'wtf are dragons' to this rather large conclusion.

Ok im beating around the bush here, i just need to come out and ask it...please explain this. All of it. Your beleif systems, how you came to this conclusion, what you think of yourself, your perception on dragons, why you beleive you are/were one, all of it. Just lay it all out on the table.

my 'awakening'
About... I think it was 3 years ago: I had just seen some kind of movie that had something to do with dragons, and something in the back of my head said "get on your PC and google for dragons". I found some art about them and I found SDB. I was hooked. Thinking back, even before I 'awakened' I already had an interest in dragons, I once read a book, and I didn't know why I liked it so much, but that was because there were dragons in it.
I think of myself as... someone with a weird interest in dragons. I don't think I ever was or ever will be a dragon, but I do strongly... relate? to them. I think it's more probable that I'm plain insane then it is that I ever had a past life or something to do with dragons.
I read people's stories and seriously consider them, but in all honesty I think it's highly probable that we're all just insane (no offence) |

That is a pretty difficult question and I'm afraid the answer won't be much easier. This is different for everybody.
My awakening, or when I became aware that I was/am a dragon, happened when I was around 15. When I grew up, I didn't have much to do with dragons, it was a topic that we never discussed. Although my parents say that I was afraid of them when I was little. I had a pretty fixed view about how they would be, what they looked like, etc. I don't think I had anything dragon related back then.
It was when I was around 14 that I was dragged (literally) to a D&D session. That particular session had a dragon in it, and my keen interest was triggered. I was reminded of my view on dragons, which was tucked away deeply because we didn't talk about it. The subject was more or less taboo.
I lived my life happily, and went to school like most people, got good grades the works. Yeah, I didn't really belong to any of the groups, but that was ok. It was when I was around 15 that I stumbled upon an article posted on Draconic.com. I read it absentmindedly, and closed the page afterwards. I had a lot of other pages opened, and at the time, I was just browsing through them, looking for dragon related artwork.
About a week later, I was walking down some stairs in the hallway of high-school, when it hit me like a train. Suddenly I understood why I felt different, why I had become suddenly obsessed with dragon (artwork). I am a dragon! I was happy that I found out, but I was also shocked. I felt like I was bursting inside, I had to tell people, ask questions.
I was browsing on Deviant Art (I had a list of people I checked) when I noticed that one of the members had a dragon forum. It took a very long time (couple of months) to build up the courage, but I joined eventually. From there I was racing to learn as much as possible. When the forum announced that they would close soon, I followed a link to here, SDB. Took me more than a month to build up the courage to join, but I did and the rest is history.
What I belief?
I belief I am a dragon in spirit. Meaning that I belief that my soul is that of a dragon. I also belief that I had at least one other life as a dragon. I belief literally that I am a reincarnated dragon.
I belief that I am one because against all logic I know that I am one. It is a thing I've thought about many times, and I keep drawing the conclusion that I am a dragon, however illogic that sounds.
If you want to know something more specific, I'm afraid you'd have to ask more directly.

err, you actually mean your going to be on Oprah, or are you just messing with me :\
and to Namhias: do you beleive that there is a human part of you as well in spirit? Unlike you I am not willing to accept these things so rapidly...I question everything. Im not questoning you, Im just saying the spirit is such a complex and vague topic that I dont want to pretend for one second that I understand it...which also means I tend to block out most of my thoughts on the issue XD
