I would like all of you, if you would, to join me in an expiriment. I did some research a few years back, and I found out that there are actually techniques you can use to induce something called Lucid Dreaming, and the cool part about it is that people have done this successfully so it's not just some new age hype.

For those of you who dont know, lucid dreaming is a phenomenom where you are asleep but conciously know you are asleep, and if your good enough you can even control your dreams, bending a life-like world to do whatever you wish...think of it almost like bringing any fantasy you have had to life in a way that seems extremly real. If you want to read up on the subject of lucid dreaming a little more you can do so here, as well as read the full descriptions of the method I summarized below.

But anyways here are the stages of learning to induce them in a nutshell:

Dream Recall
This is the purpose of the thread: the first stage is to be able to clearly recall what you dream almost every night. I mastered this stage very quickly, but soon quit afterwards because of fatique...but now im gonna try again, this time with all of you hopefully. You can do one of two things. First is the actual proven method on the site, which is to wake yourself up after each dream and write it down. This Is accomplished by repeating something like 'I will wake up after this dream cycle to write my dream', and it works better than you might think: I did it on my second night of trying and every night afterward. If you dont have the luxery of doing this you can also follow along with us and just write down what you remember when you get up in the morning, but this is far less effective and I doubt it will work :\ Keep in mind you have on average 3-4 dreams every night.

Dream Signs
Once you can recall the dreams you have regularly, the next step is to figure out what your dream signs are. These are cues you can go by that tell you you are dreaming, whether it is simply weird things like a speed limit sign with the number 34 on it or a clock whos time is displayed backwards, or personal cues like having no hair in your dreams.

Inducing Lucidity
This is the stage I got stuck on, but the next step involves recognizing these signs in your sleep to consistantly to be able to realize you are dreaming. This can be done by many methods, one of which is making habits you may imitate in your sleep. For example, in dreams clocks often display a different time each time you look at one, so try to look at your watch more frequently. Another method is to perform reality checks in real life, asking things like 'should that stop sign exist?' then explaining why it would.

Maintaning Lucidity
From what I've read this is the hardest part. It is said that once you attain lucidity it can be very difficult to maintain it, either because you get excited and wake up, or you easilly get distracted again and lose your lucidity. If you reach this stage I advice you go read up on the site instead of reading my choppy sumary.

Dream Control
Next comes pushing how far you can go with your lucidity. Again I advice going to the site for this one because I'm getting sick of typing :\

There are also a variety of details on the site I neglected to mention that I advice you go read if your serious about this...but for now lets just focus on dream recall. I will go first: please describe each and every detail you can about the dream, and do so every day, it will help with your proccess.
------------------------------------------------------
Night of 10/22/2009:

-Dream 1: Had a dream I found a large snake in my front yard. I put it around my waste and it ate its own tail, forming a sort of snake belt. Other things happened earlier that I do not remember.

-Dream 2: Dreamed that i posted a message on the forum, then when I visited the url again it was replaced with a rose on my screen. When I read the tag it was from *forgotten moderator* and said I was banned from the site for use of profanity. I sent the rose back with a *forgotten explanation* and the next day I was allowed back on the site.

--EDIT I'll keep posting untill you all join in :\

Well most of my dreams have been blank lately. Or I can't remember them once I wake up (because I just woke up and I know I had a dream but no clue what it was about).

I don't know how to open up about mine, but if more of them do occur I will post here.
