Think about it I watched a show that talked about Pterosaurs like tyranadons and others that lived in the Mesozoic era. They talked about Pterosaurs not really being dinosaurs; rather they were just flying reptiles, so that got me thinking could that be a prehistoric dragon?
What do you think of this theory

Pterosaurs, is the word you want. At first I thought you were trying to say tyranosaur.
Now, beyond that... I'm going to say "no". I do think that pterosaur fossils helped create the myth of the dragon, specifically that of wyverns, but if you mean 'dragons' as in 4 legs and two wings, absolutely not. It would be too evolutionarily complex at that point. It would require a massive musculoskeletal change and the intermediates would be detrimental to the animal trying to survive. Not to mention the sudden added weight, and complete reorganisation of body posture and the like. |

No. The biggest hurdle at this point would be explaining the development of the fifth and sixth limbs, which would suggest that they split from the "family tree" much earlier than that. _________________ To win against an opponent stronger than yourself, you must not be weaker than that opponent. - Takamachi Nanoha |

I know it is unlikely, but when I watched that clash of the dinosaurs on the discovery channel. They talked about how pterosaurs were not considered dinosaurs which made me kind of wonder. So I decided to just throw it out here so to speak, just to see what you thought. It puzzels me though as to why dinosaurs are on my mind lately. _________________ The blood of that which you beleive run deep within, if you feel this then there is no need to doubt. |

I've flittered through the pages and now I'm going to put my input.
No, dragons did no evolve from Pterosaurs or any other kind of prehistoric creature that we currently have record and knowledge of. And I have to honestly say, that no they never existed here or by now we'd have discovered obvious remains of some hexapod type lizard or animal.
For dragons, or Wyverns, to have evlolved from pterosaurs, they would have had to exist, which they didn't in our world and don't. Plain and simple. But you can search it yourself, nobody has ever found legitament 6 limbed dragon remains. The only one I've found so far is of a chinese dragon and when I looked it up and dug through to find sources, there were none, not even in chinese (thanks to google translator). The sources never lead to any credible information or evidence. _________________ I am trapped between heaven and hell. My wings carry me upon the winds. Above lies heaven, below hell.
