This maybe be argueing a bit, but perhap they have the bones mixed up. There bound to be dinosaurs that died next to each other and got mixed up. Maybe they have found dragon bones, but the wings might have already turn to dust. Anyway, I don't they dragons evolved from pterosaurs.
Dragons are extra-ordinary creature. Pterosaur aren't dinosaurs, anyway. _________________ Beware. I bite! |

The wings would have had to be very sturdy to support anything bigger than a velociraptor, and even then we have plenty of fossils of pterosaur wings. A dragon that evolved is going to be using a calcium matrix for the bone structure, just like every single other vertebrate on this planet.
Additionally, muscle attachments leave marks on bones, and where bone rests near bone has its telltales too... wings are modified arms. We'd be able to tell if a creature was missing a set of limbs. |

the bones would degrade at the same rate, and the wings would be reflected by the structure of the rest of the body to be honest.
Just poking holes in your theory. _________________ I would love to have you on MSN, send me a PM with your IM account. Or not, if your that kind of person. |

also, some bones get preserved as imprints on stone, so that would end up lasting a ridiculously long time. There would be some remains _________________ Ranna, the first, the smallest bell. Ranna the sleepbringer, the sweet, low sound that brings silence in its wake. |
