Both, if anything. It depends on species, on hunting behavior (if applicable), warming mechanism (cold/warm blooded), etc, etc.

My personal habits tend to favor the night, but seeing as this is mostly due to the fact that I work night shift and it's the best time to do things while avoiding people who annoy me, this is no indicator whatsoever of my kin.
