Exactly, what do dragons eat? I found out that I ate deer and sometimes fruit with and without meat. _________________ Beware. I bite! |

Seeing as we have no physical, hard evidence that they do exist, we can only predict what they ate judging by animals on our own planet.
I'd say that a dragon's meal would depend highly on the environment it lived in, the design of the their teeth, their size, and what kind of prey is in the area. It would also depend on their social community. If dragons hunted in packs they could take down prey from around their size and larger. If dragons hunted solo, then chances are likely that they'd take down something a bit smaller than themselves or even smaller.
Let's take lions for example. It takes most of the pride to take down a decent sized wildebeest or water buffalo. Even then hunting could be dangerous. A lioness or lion prowling out on their own would stalk much smaller and weaker prey such as a zebra foal or a weak and old animal big enough to fill the lion for a meal.
Considering some dragons may have been herbivores, it would depend on the foliage in the environment, what would be poisonous to the dragon and what would be edible. Also it depends on how large the dragon is and how long its neck may be. A dragon with a long neck may eat from high tree tops where there are leaves and fruits. A dragon with a smaller neck may eat things closer to the ground, such as ferns and berries or what ever foliage is ground level. Dragons who could quite possibly be omnivores also have to depend on their body and the environment around them for a meal.
What it really comes down to for what dragons may eat depends on the species, size, and body structure. However, I could be completely wrong, because we don't really know anything about dragon's except for what our imaginations may create for them. This is just my hypothesis judging on the behaviors of animals on Earth. _________________ Blessings |
