That's ridiculous. I understand where you're coming from, as men are generally less attached (metaphorically and literally) to the object in question, but it's still a totally inane position.
First problem: you just made an enormous generalization about the male gender. How often is that the case? More often than you might think, having been influenced by Hollywood's portrayal of men in these situations. I know that I, and most of the men I know would want to raise the kid if at all possible. Never forget: it would be our child as well, not just the woman's.
Secondly: the abortion debate has at least two sides to it, the emotional (which I would agree is more the domain of the woman who generally has to deal with more stress in this situation, but the male is not stress-free by any means) and the scientific/health. EVEN IF you would prohibit men from discussing the first part of the issue (which I in no way endorse,) the second is just as important and men can contribute just as much as woman can.

I agree with Raven. That statement was a load of sexist hogwash. I agree with Raven on all his points...
And another thing: if they really don't want children, then they shouldn't be having unprotected sex anyway, or better still, none at all, if they truely do not want a child.

Fine, I'll just sorta shutup now...  Sometimes I'm not quite aware of what I'm saying or I don't know how to predict ahead of time if it will have turned out to be the totally wrong thing to say... it's one of my personality flaws and one that Master admonishes me on frequently. I apologize...

Don't apologize. It's well within your rights to bring up your point of view. Just keep in mind that if you do it on the debate forums people with opposing viewpoints will try to prove you wrong.

It's not about being proven wrong, it's about stirring people up. I just loathe those awkward moments when I clumsily say the wrong thing without thinking about whether it will rile someone up or not. I'll just reread my stuff more often... because the comment does look kinda absurd...

choice. If they don't want the baby or don't have enough money or responsibility for the child, they should abort or put the kid up for adoption. but forcing women to give up their child by force if they fill the above requirements is absolutly unacceptable.

the 2 ways I think of it
1: I think that abortion is wrong because you do not give the baby the choice to live but making the choice for them. (yes, I know that they can't at that age ) And if you don't want children do it safe then! (of course, when raped you don't have the choice)
2: Each situation is unique. There are so much factors that you can't just generalise abortion to yes or no.
I also think men are less emotional mostly about this or at least pretend to be. this is because it's the sort of emotional and social role of men to be tough and not emotional. and also because they don't carry the children. But as stated ^ by me each situation is unique |
